Are you looking for acupuncture fertility treatments in Ringwood?

There are thousands of stories in the world about how Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has assisted with fertility – a quick internet search will bring up an amazing and encouraging array.

Of course, anecdotes and stories are only a part of the picture – there is also some convincing scientific research that shows a positive effect of TCM treatment on fertility.  A 2015 meta-analysis concluded that “management of female infertility with Chinese herbal medicine can improve pregnancy rates 2-fold within a 3-6 month period compared with Western medical fertility drug therapy.”  The review included forty randomised clinical trials involving 4247 women with infertility. Let’s take a look at how Traditional Chinese Medicine approaches fertility.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) aims to correct the pattern of disharmony giving rise to infertility.  The TCM approach is that infertility occurs due to disrupted vital balance and blockages in the Qi energy and blood circulation.  However, the reason for these disruptions and blockages is individual, and so we must look at finding out WHY, from a TCM perspective, a particular woman is unable to fall pregnant. Since the problem could be with either the man or the woman, we always assess both partners where possible.

Human beings, like all animals, will only conceive and stay pregnant if the environment in which the embryo is to develop is healthy.  By bringing both the man and woman back into a state of harmony (wellbeing) using Chinese herbs and acupuncture, the goal is to maximise healthy sperm motility and also create a healthy internal environment within the woman so that new life can take hold.

We also embrace naturopathic principles and healing methods to support fertility!

Our clinic has a strong interest in Western natural medicine and uses vitamin, mineral and enzyme therapy as part of our treatment approach.  Thorough clinical testing is also available, meaning that you as a client will gain an excellent understanding of your current health status as it relates to fertility, and can follow your progress as you work towards your fertility goals.
